The students graduate with a final federal medical exam after at least six years of medical school. Graduates get their license to practice medicine and the professional title of a physician. About 80% of them moreover acquire the scholastic MD-like qualification Doctor of Medicine (Dr. med.). The corresponding “doctoral” dissertations are frequently composed alongside undergrad study. Getting the title is a necessity because numerous restorative laypersons inaccurately assume that a doctorate is required for the practice of medicine.
The state examination or Staatsexamen is a German government licensing examination that gives access to jobs to people. Future physicians, teachers, pharmacists, nourishment chemists, psychotherapists and jurists need to pass this examination to be permitted to work in their profession. The examination is commonly sorted out by government examination agencies which are under the specialist of the responsible ministry. These agencies make examination commissions which consist of members of the examination organization, university professors or potentially representatives from the professions. Staatsexamen is made up of three parts, in case of medicine. The second part of this is taken after the completion of fifth year of studies. After a practical year, the third part follows toward the finish of the six-year degree.
